Comenda is a name derived from an ancient title of honor bestowed upon ecclesiastic authorities and those knights who had proven themselves worthy through their actions. It is in this noble tradition that we present to you this distinctly flavored selection from the Alentejo region of Portugal.
Comenda Grande is a property of remote origins rich in tradition and history. With a total area of over 750 hectares, a small piece is dedicated to the cultivation of grapes. It is this southern facing, sun soaked knoll of 30 hectares in the Portuguese interior that provides the unique flavor and complexity of these hearty grapes.
