Garmendia Winery and Vineyards started in 1991, when his president Mr. Garmendia bought the Santa Rosalia estate and discovered a former winery dating from the 18th century.
This inspired him to re-establish the estate’s former vineyards and to continue the area’s wine-producing tradition.
The Garmendia winery modelled itself on the château, or “Vino de Pago” concept; with vineyards surrounding the winery, using its own selected biological or “ecological farming” grapes, monitored by the Spanish Farming Council for each Autonomous Region.
This led to “Vinos de la tierra de Castilla y Léon” designation of origin and Arlanza Appellation.
